Iphone 5 won't charge when plugged in.. Says its full when it's not. Help!!

I've had my phone for a few months now and I've never had this problem before. It says the battery life is full (showing the it's full icon) when it's nowhere near it! It's so frustrating. I tried 5 different cables and even used my laptop and it still doesn't work.

I don't know what to do anymore.. please help me!

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

Hello Saoud1,

Battery life seems short

  1. Click ( www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) for tips on how to prolong iPhone's battery life.
  2. Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
  3. Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
  4. If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
  5. When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this User uploaded file.
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.

Best of luck,

Mario

Hi Saoud1,

how do you know it is not full when the icon shows it is not full?

if it is not full in reality you can try the "reset" first: hold bot the Sleepwake and Home button at the same time, ignore everything on the screen, let go when you see the white apple logo appear, then let it start up.

If it IS full, but discharging fast, it might help also when you do the "reset" because it quits all open apps. After that try to find which app is causing the fast discharge:

remember by closing an app, it does not quit but goes to sleep; doubleclick the home button, holding an app until it displays the minus sign then clicking the minus sign will "really" quit the app.
