Should I Ever Shut Down My Macbook Pro ?

Hi!
I am constantly on my Macbook Pro because of my job. I'd say about 10 hours a day (off and on) everyday. I never shut down my Macbook, I just put it to sleep. My question is: Should I ever shut down my Macbook Pro? I feel like it needs to sleep and I want to make my Macbook last as long as possible. If I know I won't be using it for more than 12 hours should I shut it down and give it a rest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
