Why can't I put movies onto iPod Touch?

Hi all,

I got an iPod Touch 2 for my daughter and have ripped a load of movies onto the computer and converted them into the right format/resolution etc.

I drag the converted movies into iTunes and they are playable in there.

I plug in the iPod, remove the 'sync' ticks from the boxes under Apps, Music, TV, Podcasts, Books and Photos - just leaving the Movies ticked to sync.

When I hit the Sync button, it syncs, but the movies are not copied across. I have tried autosyncing all movies - also setting it to sync only ticked movies and ticked one or two. I have also tried ticking 'manually manage music and videos' and dragging the movies and the cursor changes to a plus sign as normal, but the movie does not copy across.

There is about 4Gb free on the iPod and the movies are around 800Mb-1Gb each - I should be able to fit 4 or 5 movies on there.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello KaiBosh23,

You can try using this program for transfering your Videos/Music to your iPod:

Xilisoft iPod Rip

If you prefer to, you can use a different converter (and from the same company)

Xilisoft iPod Video Converter

Then you just import.

Likely because they are not the right format.

iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

What format to yo convert them two? The 2G can only play SD videos. I like the HandBrake program since it has presets for the iPod

Hi,

I use the app 'Any Video Converter' and use the preset for 'Apple iPod Touch 1/2/3', which gives:

x264 codec

640 x 480 res

512 Bitrate

30 Framerate

Audio aac, 128-bit, 44100 sample rate

The 2G supports:

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

I would try another converter.
