iPOD nano has folder icon with excalamation!

PLEASE HELP!!
It all started when I tried to add songs from iTunes library into my iPOD nano. It was fine in iTunes, but when I disconnected, the songs did not appear on my iPOD. All my songs were completely erased. SO I went back to iTunes to try to redo everything. Same thing happened. It shows up on my iPOD in iTunes, but all the songs disappear when I disconnect. So I tried to restore my iPOD with the disc. Now everytime it turns on, I get the folder with and exclamation point. It will only stay on for a few seconds and it has a web adress on the bottom telling me to go to Apple iPOD support. Also, my screen is not in color anymore. Can someone help PLEASE???

Hey i have kinda the same problem mine has gone blk and white too and the folder pops up however what i think caused mine has something to do with me trying to restore my iPod I have my own topic and would appreciate if you would let me know if yours gets answered and i will do the same for you

Hey it's me again good news mine is working. I got mine to restore if you want to try this go to start, all programs, ipod, find your latest update and click restore. That worked for me good luck

That happened to me also. What I did was first of all to close all itunes and ipod aplications, I mean everything, with ctl alt delete and shut down all processes. Then you install the ipod updater and you run it. That was what I did to fix mi ipod...

Just to clarify...

Install the iPod Updater (which should have been installed prior to you connecting your iPod) and restore your iPod...
Restore the iPod

This is also noted in the links I provided in my previous post in this thread.

Hi Thanks for responding. I tried to restore my iPod. IT keeps giving me an error message like "unable to mount iPod" or "This updater does not support the iPod connected". I jsut don't know what to do.

Hi,

Hoping someone can help,I have a similar problem. My ipod nano is showing the folder icon with the exclamation mark. I can reset it ok and put it into disk mode. I've removed and reinstalled the software but cannot restore the ipod at all. Each time I try it either hangs on restoring and goes no further or returns a cannot mount ipod error. Everything I try in various combinations results in the same situation. Its not very old and just showed this icon when I turned it on one day.
