itunes doesnt find any of my devices

I connect my ipod and iphone to my laptop and itunes does nothing,

its not listed in my devices in itunes.

I have the latest update's.

I have followed all the guids and they dont work,

they dont even show up under my computer.

but they still get charged.

iPod touch (4th generation)
