Hello,
My early 2011 15-inch macbook pro has been suffering from a disc drive issue. Whenever I insert a cd or dvd it will spit it back out. So far, I have reset the SMC (non battery pull method) and I went into safe mode and repaired the disk from the disk utility. My warranty and apple care is expired. Any help would be appreciated!
Some more information, I am running OS X Moutain Lion (10.8.4)

Usually there are one of two issues. The lens needs to be cleaned or the drive has expired.
Use a lens cleaning DVD, shot some compressed air into the slot or use a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) and wrap it around a stiff but thin piece of cardboard or plastic and insert it GENTLY into the slot.

Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.
