Q: I lost my Ipad and wonder oif I can access my Ibooks from my windows laptop??

It is hopeless to get my Ipad back I guess although it has shown since it's gone missing as offline so I locked it but no 'go'.

At the very least I would like to get my books to download on my windows laptop.  Is this possible?  They aren't in Icloud???

Please help!

    Hi sanfaye,

If your books were purchased via the iBooks application, there is no laptop app currently available to retrieve them. You can re-download them to another IOS device, but you cannot get them on a laptop.

    Sorry,

Why is that?  I have two windows PCs that I use a lot more than my iPad and would like to be able to read a book while eating lunch.  It's a lot easier to look at the screen while eating a sandwich than to have to hold an iPad at the same time.

Again, there is no app/method to read them on your pc.

You can read them on an ios device.

You might want to consider Amazon's Kindle app. It works on PCs, Macs, Android, and iOS devices. You do not need a Kindle device to use it. Downloadable app is free.

    Cheers,

That is my whole complaint about books on the iOS device is that I cannot use them on any other device.  I can play my music, movies, etc, anywhere else, but cannot read a book?  How stupid is that???

Apple is losing out on a big share of the market by locking out that part of the software.  I will find other ways of obtaining books in the future that I can read on my iPad. If I have to buy the Kindle or similar app for iPad just so I can read the same book on my PC, then so be it.  Kindle will get the market commission and Apple will not.  It's that simple.

And if it gets too difficult to cross platform a book to read and I am forced to get another pad device just to be able to read the same book on the airplane as well as on my PC at work during lunch break, then the iPad gets chucked for an Android device.  I hold no loyalty to Apple or Android, I just want it to work!
