My home sync error message is: unable to connect to users folder (null) read only

my home sync doesnt transfer data. has error above. any ideas on the permissions that need to be set up. I have the Use for user home directories checked.

Mac mini Server (Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), Server OS
