Random trumpet fanfare sound from Macbook pro "15" retina

I have this problem that really annoys me sometimes it's just that my macbook is making a sound like a trumpet fanfare, and it just happens randomly, not at any specific moments and i have no clue what that could make that sound, i usually only have safari, mail, skype, spotify and league of legends open, and i can't see what could cause the sound, cause there isn't any commercials when the sound comes, and i don't know what to do

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), i have word, powerpoint, and excel

It's a sound for some type of notification. Could be for a message or email for some program that comes with the Mac or that you installed.

Do you have announce the time on ?

Go to clock on menu bar/open date and time preferences and see if announce the time has been selected,

as not only voices is possible, but sounds also. If so unselect

Most likely this is caused by some third party software. What is in your login items? (System Preferences, Users & Groups). If this were happening to me I would quit all applications and add them back in one by one until I hear the sound.

Do you have Growl by any chance?

Temporarily disable the notifications by clicking the icon in the upper right hand corner of your menu bar. See if the problem persists.

I'm sorry, I mistyped. You have hold OPTION and click the menu bar notification icon. It will change to a grey color. It disables notifications for 24 hours (you can re-enable them any time before then). If the problem persists, then it is not related to notification center and that can be ruled out.
