I have connected my apple TV using an HDMI cable to my TV, but I'd like the audio to come out via my Yamaha receiver and surround sound speaker system. I don't have any optical cables inputs on the back of my Yamaha receiver. What to do?
Plug the HDMI cable into the receiver.
Wish I could - but no HDMI ports - it's an old receiver (Yamaha HTR-5740). Time to buy a new one?
Yes, that would indicate it is time to buy a more current receiver that has multiple HDMI inputs.
You can just buy an Hemingway pigtail. They are $14. Much cheaper than a new receiver
