Q: Speed fan factory setting

Hello!

I have a mac mini late 2011 with osx 10.8.4.

This morning I installed a program for the control of the fans and I have set a wrong value: 5500rpm anyway! After the program would not let me change this value more then I removed it (with the appropriate uninstaller) but the fan still looked an airplane.

After a couple of restarts is back at around 1800rpm (verified with iStat pro from the dashboard)

After I installed another program to control fans and here appeared the default 5500rpm without being able to change anything. Removed too!

I tried to reset the SMC but the procedure found online do not seem to work.

Now the problem is that the fan speed does not increase when excess of 80 ° (which might happen, for example, I see a movie FullHD).

How can I repost the rules for managing the fan to the factory?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

    Which were these 2 Apps?

Are you sure there aren't some traces of them left?

it is iStat Menus and smcFanControl. I removed everything with clean my mac and then I checked manually if there was anything around and I've eliminated two .plist file from the library.

in the meantime I made a backup and a clean install of the operating system. but I have not solved because under stress arrived at 92C without the fan exceeds the approximately 2800rpm.

    You will need  to

    1. reinstall the iStat Menus and smcFanControl software,
    2. reset the defaults,
    3. remove the software according to their documentation

Please note that clean my mac app is not necessary as Mac OS X looks after itself:

then reinstalling the system was useless? I'm looking on google and it seems that it is normal for this model have the fan on 2000rpm even at 90C.

what is the default policy of apple, on this mac? I begin to think that the 80C that, previously, did turn the fan to 5500rpm, I had setup myself, and I have not forgotten... maybe...

In any case, I try to do what you've written

I have a 2011 Mac Mini Server that I use as a workstation

and as normal operation, fans go not get cranked up until

the CPU temp gets up to 90+ degrees C.  This is also true

on my 2011 13" Macbook Pro.

It does seem like that is not a great way to go about cooling

but that is the default behavior.  It almost like waiting until a fire

becomes a 4 alarmer before putting any water on it.  Then again,

Personally, I installed this Control Panel/App->

    http://www.lobotomo.com/products/FanControl/

It is great since you can set a minimum fan speed, the point

at which it starts to ramp up, and the temp at which fans will

    run all out.
