Duplicate Purchased Songs

Hi there,

I've suddenly encountered a slight problem in iTunes. Essentially, my library is now showing purchased songs twice. One is the original, downloaded song, which I have been playing up until now. However, there is then another version of the song which iTunes seems to think I haven't downloaded, which is given as an optional download from the cloud. Hopefully that makes sense.

It appears that iTunes thinks that all of my purchased songs remain un-downloaded, despite them being in my library, and being playable. I've got no idea why this happened, or what caused it, but hopefully you guys have got some ideas. Although it's not hugely harmful to using iTunes, I'd rather not have a load of randomly duplicated songs in my library, and I'm not sure what will happen if I try to sync my iPod with it, either.

Thanks 🙂

It is a buggy thing that has been happening lately. When functioning properly it should only show the items you haven't downloaded yet. The idea is that you can see all the content you own all in one place even if it isn't downloaded. It may have to due with the recent upgrades Apple has been making to their servers. Otherwise, it will hopefully be patched in the next iTunes update coming with iOS 7 in the Fall.
