where is is coming from? It could be the hard drive.
It's coming from the base on the right side
Right side, on the palmrest area? That's where the HDD lives. BACK UP ALL YOUR STUFF RIGHT NOW.
Then open Disk Utility, select the drive from the list and look at the S.M.A.R.T. status listed at the bottom of the window. If it is anything different from Verified, the drive is failing and will have to be replaced.
It says 'verified'
Confirm or disprove it is the HDD with an Old Mechanic's Trick: get a short, thin metal rod. Place one end against the bony area in front of your good ear. Use the other end to probe the Mac by placing it against various points on the case, starting with the lower-right area. A primitive stethoscope, if you will, permits you to pinpoint the source and the nature of the sound.
Can also be the fan(s) or the optical drive.
OK thank you.
It could be the sensor that stops the hard drive when the machine experiences a sudden drop or motion.
