How can I make my iPod touch work again?

I locked myself out of my iPod on accident after my screen got messed up. It says to try again in 22,198,678 minutes. Is there any way to get around waiting 42 years for my iPod to work again?

Is there a way to remotely remove the password or should I give up hope?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

To restore from backup see:

iOS: How to back up

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

To do it remotely:

If you don't have access to a computer

If you are using Find My iPhone, you can use Remote Wipe to restore your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode.

Axeman1020 gave the wrong link his link is for:

iPod, iPod classic, iPod mini, and iPod nano to factory settings.

Not iOS devices like the iPod touch. In addtion, that article restores to factory settings. There is not need to restore to factory setting, restoring from backup is fine.
