Q: Unused Macbook Battery

Looking at buying an unused macbook battery that the seller says is 11 months old. Never been charged. Anyone know the average shelf life of the lithium-ion batteries? Would an 11 month old never been charged battery still retain most of the charge? will it charge at all? thanks.

It surely was charged initially by the Mfg. Lithium batteries will self discharge to a partial state over time. Unless it has been totaly discharged and damaged as a result it should be able to be charged and used. Unfortunately you won't know the condition until you attempt to charge it.
