What is the best way to cleanup my Mac?

My Macbook Pro is few years so naturally it's running slower but I feel that it should be faster than it is. What is the best way to do a cleanup: purchase cleanup software or can I take it the Apple Store for a tuneup? Is that even possible and what does it entail?

You might want to download OnyXand run the tasks on the cleaning and maintenance menu's, which will require several reboots. This software has been around for years and helped people clean up their hard drives. Before using any hard drive maintenance software, you should ensure any important files are backed up.
