Aperture locks up

While Aperture was building thumbnails, my Macbook shut off. When I restarted and opened Aperture, it locked up and I had to force it close. Aperture continued to lock up even after I restarted my Macbook. I put Aperture into the Trash and emptied the Trash. I then reloaded Aperture but it still locked up. I moved Aperture to the Trash again, searched to make sure that there weren't any files attached to it - other than my Library - and then reloaded the software a third time. It still locks up - AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH! Any suggestions? I have never had any issues with this program before.

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Here are not many Aperture 2 user any longer, but for a start:

Have you tried the general trouble shooting described in: HT2945 Aperture 2 Trouble Shooting Basics?

If you have done all updates, ensured you have enough free disk space, then in many cases it will help to repair or rebuild the Aperture library, if the problem only occurs with one Aperture library. If it occurs with a new library, trash your Aperture preferences.
