How can I make my computer not turn off (sleep mode, or hybernate)? While plugged into the wall.

I have two dogs, and i am trying to see which one is tearing up my couch while im away by recording via my built in camera and "iMovie". But after a few times trying, I relised that my computer "sleeps" or "hybernates" after only a half an hour. It is plugged in, and i went to System Prefrences > energy saver > then clicked on power adapter and moved both "computer sleep and display sleep" to never. turned off my screen saver. and still having issues with this. Am i missing somthing?

System Preferences / Energy Saver / Power Adapter tab. Slide the Computer Sleep: slider to Never. Done.

And in the Schedule button, make sure it is not set to sleep at a specific time.

Oh, and in Mission Control make sure your Hot Corners aren't doing something nasty.

Thank you Courcoul, i appericate your help. but if you would have read my whole description, you would have noticed i already tried that. "It is plugged in, and i went to System Prefrences > energy saver > then clicked on power adapter and moved both "computer sleep and display sleep" to never." i also did check the schedule times, and it is off, both wake up times, and sleep times.

The above has worked for me unfailingly when needed, hence not having any more to offer. Only other thing I can think of would be any third-party software that caused the sleeping. Quick way of testing would be starting up in Safe Mode, since that disables all system extensions save Apple's.

What I would like to have is a never-sleep toggle on the menubar. I would prefer to leave my sleep preferences as a default and have a temporary setting that will suspend sleep for a little while. Am I missing something?

Click the Schedule button and make sure you haven't scheduled a sleep event.
