Magic Mouse Skipping & Lagging

Hello everyone, I have a Magic mouse, which has been skipping and jumping across the screen recently, as opposed to sliding fluidly. It's extremely annoying, especially when editing in FCPX. Does anyone know what this could be? My system is an Early 2011 Core i5 MBP with 16GB Ram and a Fusion drive (750GB 7200rpm WD + Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD).

I have an installation of Snow Leopard on an external Hard Drive, and the mouse is fine when used in SL...

Anyone know what this could be? Thaks.

Strangely enough, yes. I had my computer next to me in clamshell mode (I had an L shaped desk setup). Once I moved in front of me, it was fine. Not an optimal solution, but it has worked fine since. This is all I know. I'm sorry I can't be of any more help... Have you tried it on a different operating system? Because I had Snow Leopard installed on an external HDD, and the mouse was fine there... I can confirm, however, that it is not due to too many devices being connected via Bluetooth, because I added a Magic Trackpad to my setup, and they all work fine.

Have a nice Xmas :)

Hey moritzhberg,

Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues with your Magic Mouse, the following article outlines suggested troubleshooting steps:

Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048

Mouse does not track as expected (jittery, jumpy, slow, fast).

The Apple Wireless Mouse can be used on most smooth surfaces, however if tracking issues occur try these options:

- Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.

- Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.

- Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.

- If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.

Thanks,

Matt M.

Hello moritzhbrg,

Thank you for the follow up. Sometimes, simply changing the surface that the mouse is operating on can resolve this issue (i.e. using a mouse pad, along with changing batteries, etc).

However, if your issue is still not resolved, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.

Thanks,

Matt M.
