I have just purchased a new MacBook Air and had it synced to my Pro, which is using the latest software version. It seems that in doing the sync something in the Pro has triggered a glitch in the Air so that even though the Air shows connection online it does not connect online. How can that be fixed? Thanks.

MacBook Air, iOS 6.1.4

Describe what you mean by this. Outline the procedure.

I connect my new Air to the internet both by wifi and then by ethernet. In each case the settings show it is connected to the internet but when launching safari or my mail I get the notice that it is not connected.

Thanks so much for your help. I have a business meeting I need this for in a few days and it is no help to me if I can't get on the internet with it.  And I'm a real boomer novice with tech things

Thanks for your suggestion but I'm not able to connect online since my purchase of the Air on 7/20/13. My Pro was copied to the Air so I can work smoothly between the two when in my office or on the road.  All went very smoothly EXCEPT  I can't connect online with the Air even when the settings register being connected.

What other options can I try?

Download the update on another computer, if you have one, and transfer it to the MBA. Otherwise see below.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership. If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you also have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to  exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different.

I discovered that oddly I could connect online with the Ethernet so downloaded the software update. Still didn't solve the Wi-fi issue so called Apple Support and it took getting to Sr level support but it was resolved. I'm fully in business and ready to travel with the Air this weekend. Thanks for your assistance!

Maybe you would care to say how you solved the problem, so that others can benefit from your experience.

I would be very happy to if I really understood the technical side of things Apple seemed to think it may have been related to my internet service provider and the server. I work in a home office and have an iphone, MB Pro, iPad and now Air all connected to the ATT internet/wi-fi system. There were no actual setup problems with the Air. No setting to change at all. After checking through each place with the sr. tech support I was suprised to find that suddenly in a moment I was actually connected through the wi-fi.  Perhpas it was just a matter of sufficient time between downloading the software update.  I'm sorry I can't give more specific information.
