ipPv6 Relay Error

Hello all,

I have a brand new Airport Extreme (the tall one) connected directly to my router, and I'm getting the internet just fine. However, I have a yellow flashing light on the Extreme, and in Airport Utility the status reads 'IPv6 Relay Error.' I'm not very tech savvy, and I'm afraid I have no idea what this means or how to go about fixing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Unless you are currently using IPv6, be sure that your AirPort Extreme is configured to use the "Link-local only" setting for IPv6.

You can set this using the AirPort Utility:

  • AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Edit
  • Internet > Internet Options > Configure IPv6: Link-local only

On your Mac:

  • System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced
  • TCP/IP > Configure IPv6: Link-local only
