    Hi another me here,

Luckily I got my whole machine replaced after the second replacement.  So the thing I suggest you to do is to talk to a senior advisor, explain to him how many times u have changed ur display and how disappointed u r with apple now and  ask him for a new machine since the problem is unsolved. The day I took my mac to the store even the genius guy kept telling me the screen is within specification I insisted making a comparison with those sold in store, thank god they are not blind, as long as they can tell the difference it might be easier to request for a brand new machine.

Thanks for sharing your story. So on your first machine, your first display was an LG with image retention, then your second display was a Samsung with yellow tint, and your third display was a Samsung with yellow tint. Then you got the entire machine replaced and your fourth display on your second machine is a Samsung LSN154YL01001 with no yellow tint. Is that right?

I've gone to the Genius Bar 3 times to complain about the yellow tint. On all 3 visits they denied that the yellow tint was a problem. But on the third visit I was offered a "one-time" replacement. So I'm on my third display on my first machine, also with yellow tint. And I agree with you, the only solution is a machine replacement. I suspect the yellow displays are only used as replacements and not on new machines.

But I've got 2 years of Apple Care so I will be going back until they give me a new machine.

Lucky you. The person i talked to is a senior manager already. she's a older lady sounds like she don't know S**T about the product. keep saying : my best tech guy checked there is no problem with the screen. I asked for a new machine but she replies she can not do that, i can either take the second replacement or this third replace( both yellow).  PS the talk was over within 2min talk. and she walked away. I was like ***.

also lucky you too @MERCH VISOIU, U still got the apple care. I didn't buy the apple care and not mine warranty over. i guess i am stucked here...till i buy my self a new machine.

On my 3 visits to the Genius Bar I was also told that the yellow display was normal. The problem is that this yellow display is different than the display I agreed to buy. My first display, the one I agreed to buy by keeping it past the 14-day return period, was not yellow. If my first display was yellow like this one I would have returned it. And Apple knows that so I believe that Apple uses the yellow displays only as replacements and uses normal ones on new machines. Because if they used the yellow displays on new machines people would return them! But as replacements we're stuck with them and we have to go visit Apple and be treated like idiots like we don't know what a display is supposed to look like. And both the new non-yellow and the replacement yellow displays are Samsung LSN154YL01001. It's the same model.

Have you tried buying a colour calibrator or tried my attachment with colour profiles? It won't make your display look as good as the first one you agreed to buy but it does help make the display less horrible to look at. I also found that sometimes when loading a game like Team Fortress 2 or SimCity and then quitting the game and returning to the desktop somehow the colour is very different and it actually looks good for a minute and then fades back to yellow. I can't explain this.

Anyone with a Samsung LSN154YL01001: Does your Apple logo on the top cover of the display glow pinkish? And is your display yellow tinted or not?

I just took my Samsung in the other day.  The tech saw the yellow patch on the left side and took it back without any fuss.  I just got it back today and they gave me the SJA2 which is the newer LG panel.  The colors look wonderful and best yet there isn't the slightest hint of ghosting.

    Hello everybody.

I'm very upset with apple too. I got my macbook pro retina on august 2012. I had issues with the hinges of this labtop... the screen was wite, I mean PERFECT. They replaced the screen because the problem with the hinges on august 2013, still on warrantie. Well...guess...YELLOW SCREEN...., i went back and i said that the screen was yellow, they said they would change it again...guess:  YELLOW SCREEN...I went back, and they said we give you one new one laptop...I said ok. guess... YELLOW SCREEN. I told them the same moment i turned on the new computer that it was yellow too. the guy told me that after three times they could not do enything for me.

so now I have a fu..ing YELLOW screen, that is horrible...As a graphic designer is crazy to work with it...

I'm very upset each time i watch it... I'm still thinking to go again to other location to say that I want one WHITE....

Thanks for sharing your story. I find it interesting that they gave you an entirely new machine as a replacement and that the display on this new machine was also yellow. I would have expected that the yellow displays are only used as replacements and not on new machines. Or maybe your replacement machine was refurbished. And thanks for continuing to complain to Apple about the yellow display. It seems that a lot of people are getting yellow replacement displays and just living with them. I don't know how they can do that: it hurts my eyes every time I look at this display. You can try buying a colour calibrator: it will make the display look a little less horrible but the colours will still be wrong and the whites will be any random colour but white. You can move the target white point up past 7500 K to make the display hidiously blue instead of hideously yellow. And there's no reason to think that these yellow displays are not defective just because Apple gave them to us. We know about the widespread problem with image retention and muras. Apple has demonstrated that its products can be inherently defective and this yellow problem is just another category of problem with this product.

I do recommend visiting other Apple store locations if you have multiple Apple stores in your area. Often the Genius you get will be more or less sympathetic.

I've updated my colour profiles for people to try if they don't have a colour calibrator: http://merchv.com/Apple/Merch-Colour-Profiles.zip

These color profiles were very helpful. thanks,  I too replaced my August 2012 (LG Screen) MBPr 15 exhibiting IR  and got a yellowish Samsung replacement.

    NEW 11/8/2013

    LSN154YL01001

    DLM3153019ZFDR6AN

It looks so different from my brand new MBPr13 which is much bluer and crisper to the eye.  I just have to stop going back and forth between the two.  It's amazing how much better the $1500 computer looks compared to the $3000 computer.

I think the LG screen was better resolution, but the IR problem was driving me crazy.  Oh well maybe the next generation with IGZO technology will be better.  But maybe not.

I'm using the profile named Apple Color LCD-1-2  Thanks for the help. I think a MBPr 15 with yellowish screen is going to have a better resale value than one with an LG screen exhibiting really bad IR.

Same issue here... Same screen replacement (LSN154YL01001) picked it up from Apple this morning. The profile (Apple Color LCD-1-2) almost makes it look like it did before.

I can tell you that it's not generally true that a Samsung will be yellow and an LG will be clear/blue. I've seen Samsungs that were clear/blue and now I have an LG LP154WT1-SJE1 that's yellow/brown just like my last Samsung LSN154YL01001 was.
