Backup drive for time machine

Time machine doesn't show QNAP TS-239 NAS as a possible backup drive. The NAS is connected via devolo d-lan from my router. I can read and write files there (althogh NTFS) since SL NTFS is installed. Anybody got a clue? Do I have to convert the drive to FAT, use bootcamp...?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

First, Time Machine needs that the backup external drive has to be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then, you can't use a network drive to make backups unless you have the most recent AirPort Extreme > http://pondini.org/TM/Airport.html

If you want to make backups, you have to connect the NAS directly to the computer. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
