Q: why can't i update my iOS on my iphone 3gs

my itunes account say's that my iOS is up to date, the iOS i currently have is iOS 4.2.1 obiously something is wrong can someone please give me there inpute?

Are you sure you have a 3Gs? 4.2.1 is the last iOS for the 3G.
