There's an easy way to do this. Open Minecraft, and in the menu or title screen, go to Options. Click Resource Packs and when it comes to that well-known texture pack area, click Open resource pack folder. This will take you to the textures folder in the .minecraft or minecraft folder, and if you press + twice it should go up two directories to the folder holding minecraft, Libraries. I know normally Libraries never shows hidden folders like minecraft, but for some reason, when you get there through the texture pack folder, minecraft is shown in Libraries. Now secondary-click (right-click or two-fingered tap) the minecraft folder, and click Make Alias. A shortcut will be made in the Libraries folder, and you can drag the minecraft alias folder onto your desktop. Congrats! You've just got easy access to the minecraft directory!

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DRAG THE ACTUAL minecraft FOLDER INTO YOUR DESKTOP! This will destroy the connection between the game and the saved data, and make it impossible to save worlds or edit textures, and there's no way to put it back.

Leave the minecraft alias on your desktop. Double-clicking it will open the very minecraft folder that you want.
