Apps don't install (no SIM)
I gave my iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1) to my kid so that he can play (but not call: there is no SIM card).
He has an iTunes account but apps don't install.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

When you gave this iPhone to your child, did you first erase it so that it could then be setup using his/her Apple ID & iTunes account?
Do you have a sim card you can insert so the phone can be reactivated?
Well, you need to get a sim card for this phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present to reactivate the phone. You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone.
Once you get the sim card: Turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account, if such were setup/used on the phone. Then: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Set the phone up using your child's Apple ID. You should be good to go.
Thanks for the quick answer.
No, I did not erase the iPhone first.
And I don't have a valid SIM card any longer. I now have a nano-SIM for my own phone, and the big-size SIM I have for the iPhone 3G is no longer activated.
Thanks: it worked like a charm!
Now, finding apps that still work on iOS 4.2.1 seems more complicated!
Cheers
