To reinstall iDVD, insert the Applications DVD that came with your Mac or the iLife DVD and perform a custom installation to install iDVD. After installing iDVD, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version

If you have Time Machine running with your iMac just restore iDVD to the Applications fodler with it.

Also make sure you have an iDVD folder in your Home/Library/Application Support folder that contains a Themes folder. If it's there all you need to do is install the iDVD application as mende1 described.

Ok i am still having problems.

As far as i know, i only have two discs. One is the Mac osx Install DVD and the other is the: imac Applications Install DVD.

I have attempted to use the applications install dvd however, i don't reach a screen that allows for a custom install for idvd only. I am afraid to let the install run as it might reinstall all my apps (thereby wiping away all my saved matter ie music, photos etc)

am i missing a disc or missing something in the process?

When i insert the application install disc and choose "Custom Install" it tells me that it will install additional applications that came with your computer. (it doesn't allow me to choose any one app.
