Q: How to enable root user on OS 10.8.4?

Jul 24, 2013 9:47 PMby RayShi,There is no whatsoever called "Edit" on that screen. There is a button "Direcroty Editor" and also a button wiht a pen image on it. Neither leads to "Enable root user".
Anyway I was able to use sudo command to execute my command. The instruction is just very poor. No wonder only 50% user find it helpful.

Edit is a standard Menu. Almost every application has one.

Of course, as you found out, there is almost no reason to do so.
