I have a 3G and the iOS 6 software doesn't work with my music downloads and I've lost my ringtones. The music list scrolls and doesn't stop. How do I get back to an earlier operating system? My phone promted me to download it and I didn't know it wasn't a fit with this phone.
iPhone 3G, iOS 6.0.1
Iphone 3G can only have IOS 4.2.1 - nothing higher
iphone 3GS can be update to IOS 6.1.3
So which iphone do you have?
Only way to go back is to put device in DFU mode and restore from a backup with older software on it.
In the "about" settings, it shows Version 6.1.3 (10B329), Model MC640LL/A????
Ok you can't downgrade back to the earlier IOS.
To fix the music issue. Go to settings - general - usuage - music - edit - delete.
then sync your music back using itunes. Your music should be in your itunes media libary.
Your ringtone should also be there too, when you phone is plug to your computer - go to tones - then sync.

That will not work, because the older version is not signed any longer. There is NO legitimate way to downgrade iOS to an earlier version once it has been upgraded.
I wasn't 100% sure but thought it was worth a shot.
