Q: Can the new airport time capsule connect to an existing wirless network

I'm wanting to buy a airport time capsule but dose it connect to a existing wifi network or dose it only connect by Ethernet cable?

I already have a wireless network at home with the company I'm going through also.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

It works poorly.. you will get poor speeds and the TC will become a client on the network.. all ethernet off.. all wireless defunct except to connect to the existing wireless. So yes it does work.. it is so bad and so slow you will not be happy. Plug in by ethernet.. that is how it works.

You can run both wireless networks.. that is not a problem.. you can also run roaming network where you setup the wireless in both devices.. to match each other.

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260

Both devices can be different brands.. so you do not need to copy that document exactly.. but the principle is there..

One router.. whichever you want to use. Bridge the other.

The main router plus the TC can be setup for wireless.. or either can do the wireless with other turned off.. or you can use roaming network.. any setup which suits your needs..!!

Excellent just what I wanted to do is run them separately and have all my apple items running off the airport time capsule and have my gaming consoles run off the wireless modem as its already doing :)
