    HI,

Apple sometime prompts you to change your password.

    Has this happened recently ?

Have you had any prompts to do Two Step Verification ?

    HI,

If this is the iMessages account in Messages is it the same Apple ID you use to login in here to post ?

If it logs in here the password is correct.

If it is another Apple ID does that work anywhere else ? (iTunes, a different login here)

If it is  Password to an AIM Login can you login here ?

Apple Issued ID ending in @me.com and @icloud.com from iCloud will not work on that AIM settings page.

Go back to the Keychain and check the Access tab and check it is allowing Messages, IMAgent and Internet accounts if it is not allowing Any app.

    HI,

Did the AIM Setting page give you any message as to why ?

Some people who travel a lot had issues with @mac.com ending Apple IDs that are valid AIM  names due to the Agreement between the two companies, where their accounts were Suspended due to Unusual Activity.

If AOL was or is your ISP have you actually enabled Messaging (I think it is called that) on the account ?

Also if it was AOL as your ISP, have you closed your Account with them as they are likely to disable the Chat name as well.

    Hi,

If your AIM Screen Name is in fact a Yahoo email you may not have used the same Password at AIM when you registered it there as you did when it was created at Yahoo.

In fact it would be best practice to use different passwords.

Looking at the Yahoo entry in the Keychain may well then be misleading - more so if you have changed the Yahoo password.
