Itunes downloads wont sync to ipad

For some reason any movie or audiobook I download to my mac can play on my mac, but will not sync to any of my other devices. I have tried syncing to multiple ipads, and my iphone and get the same error.

"The file can not be sync as file can not be read/written"

I can download the media directly to the ipad or iphone from the cloud, just not sync it to them.

Does anyone know what would cause this, and how to fix it?

PS: All of this content is bought not rented, and the ipads do not have parental controls or restrictions turned on.

I found an article with steps you can take for an issue like this. I recommend reviewing the information in this article (the title references an iPod, but the information applies to iOS devices as well):
