URL autocomplete on my iPad - how to stop and clear prior URLs?

I visited a website yesterday using Safari on my iPad - Safari was in "private browsing" mode, so the URL should not have been saved. However, even though I have (1) cleared the history and cookies and data several times and (2) had Autofill turned off and (3) closed Safari and (4) powered down the iPad and turned it back on several times, when I type in two letters in the address bar, it is still autofilling the URL of the website I visited. I did not and have never bookmarked this URL, but now my iPad will not delete it and continues to Autofill it whenever I type in the first two letters of the URL. This has not happened before. I'm not sure what operating system, but it's an iPad 2 and I think it's the most recent iOS operating system. Help!

Its not backing up. They are called iCloud Tabs.

If in Settigns->iCloud->Safari is turned on. Tabs from your devides will appear on your other devices, and as such those tabs will be in your history.

If you don't want this you can turn it off in Settings->iCloud->Safari. On the Device yopu don't want to see the cloud tabs.

Did you go into your iPad settings --> Safari and then turn off Autofill? There is also a "clearall" button at the bottom that should remove that.

I hadn't tried that, but it didn't work either. I also have gone to "Advanced" and checked "Website Data" and it shows 0 bytes. The website URL is still autofilling.

I even just cleared all the data and settings and re-set my iPad. Guess what? Safari is still auto-filling the URL. Does it make a difference that what its trying to autofill is an "https" website?

No, https shouldn't matter. It sounds to me like a glitch. If you type in the correct url a number of times that one should be also on the list and I think you might just have to deal with the wrong one being there also.

By resetting your ipad do you mean Restoring? As in wiping the entire iPad, reinstalling ios 6 and then putting your data back on? That's about all you can do.

I think I figured it out and fixed it. I had been logging in to the same site from my iPhone, with both devices linked via iCloud (but Safari was not supposed to be backing up via iCloud.) When I deleted my iCloud account from my iPad and went back to Safari and started typing in the URL, it no longer autofilled the website address.
