Of not...
USB reset...
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device. A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
1. Shut the machine down.
2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
3. leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Connect back up and reboot.

Oct 9, 2013 5:07 AM in response to Murray Caterby Moof666,You must connect a USB 3.0 device to the USB 3.0 port, next to the Thunderbolt port. Only one of the four is really USB 3.0. The next one and the last one are the same bus which is USB 2.0. The third one plus the internal IR receiver and Bluetooth are one bus which is USB 2.0.

Oct 9, 2013 3:29 AM in response to Moof666by tbirdvet,I just tested all 4 of my ports and all work at 3.0 speeds. According to Apple if you mix USB 3 with USB 2 add ons be sure to connect the USB 3 device first as it sets some buss default. I used Black Magic speed test program to verify and all ports are faster than USB 2 speeds.
