is there a way to get notified whenever an existing document is edited or modified? I would like a popup or something to tell me whenever someone edits an existing file within a specific folder on my work computer. We're still running 10.6 here. Any suggestions? Best I could see is Folder Actions, but that only seems to work when a new file is created, not edited. Thank you.

Have you checked Growl?  You may be able to tweak it in its Preference for what you want.

Growl is installed and I did look there, but at quick glance I can only set it to notify me of applications. I will give it a more thorough look tomorrow at work. Thanks for the suggestion, perhaps I missed something.
