Jul 25, 2013 2:24 PM in response to glowinglassby Johnb-one,I'd have to say "no" at first glance, but I'd be wrong. Apparently that printer is actually a Lexmark 9500 rebadged
which I think has Mac drivers. Just rename the printer Lexmark, or let it rename the printer, and it should work
and I think you have to add the IP manually..your mileage may vary
that's all I have for now

Jul 26, 2013 7:42 AM in response to Johnb-oneby glowinglass,The driver list for a Lexmark 9500 shows no Mac products, only Windows. You gave me hope, but I think I'm out of luck.

Use Apple Software Update for 10.6.8 or later. And yes it lists Lexmark 9500.

Jul 26, 2013 9:14 AM in response to glowinglassby The hatter,This is the help articles I put in a notebook for printer issues:
OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion systems will have the necessary printing software already installed, or will automatically download and install software when the printer is connected or configured. Do not install software that came with the printer as it may be out of date, and do not connect the printer to your Mac yet. Follow the instructions that came with the printer to unpack, install ink or toner, and insert paper. Finally, use the instructions in this article to connect the printer to your Mac.
Make sure the printer model is listed in Printer and scanner software, which is a comprehensive list of all printer models that have compatible software for OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion.
How to add a printer
Start a print job on the Mac and manage its options
Generate and manage PDFs
Manage the printer queue and printer dock icon
Share the printer queue
Mac OS Printing/Fax (any version), OS X Lion, OS X Mountain Lion
http://www.apple.com/support/osx/
printing in OS X Mountain Lion
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Try to delete the Lexmark print queue under Print & Fax / Print & Scan then manually add a print queue. Steps here: http://bit.ly/TdUuHL
If it doesn't work, reset the printing system:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
then add another print queue manually.
Also, check for a software update for your Lexmark printer.

ARRRGHHHH! See original post - don't have a Lexmark. This is a brand new Mac and a perfectly good 4yr old Dell multi-function device. Contrary to the advice, when I plug it into the Mac, it immediately recognizes it, but offers no driver downloads. Tried JB's advice of trying to "disguise it " as a Lexmark 9500 - same prob - no driver download that works....

Jul 26, 2013 10:58 AM in response to glowinglassby The hatter,★HelpfulThat was a general troubleshooting tip, not specific to yours though that is what all vendors for printers say (Canon, Lexmark, Epson and others)
I tend to upgrade printer/scanners regularly as they do stop supporting and the new ones have been both cheaper and better/faster, unless you have a highend color laser or business/workclass unit or large impact printer.
There are things about Windows and Mac that each has its good side to me and why I use both and my next Mac has to dual boot.

Jul 27, 2013 9:40 AM in response to glowinglassby Johnb-one,last try on this one. Gimp-Print or Guntenprint. Failing that, may be time to recycle it
