My sons iPod touch has no backlight. I have tried to reset the iPod touch (5th generation) but this didn't fix the problem. It turns on and you can hear volume you just can't see anything on the screen.

    Have you checked the brightness of the screen? How long ago was this purchased? Has your son dropped it?

    It was purchased November 2012.  It has not been dropped.  The brightness is at full... If you have the light hot the screen just right you can barely make out the icons on the screen so I checked all the settings and did a reset. Nothing

    Sounds like a defect. Take it to your nearest apple dealer with the warranty and docket and they should exchange/refund it if they can't find any signs of damage made by you. BTW, how long has this been going on for?

    Try:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. If not abused, Apple will exchange it at no cost
