The journal making on the iPad with the special iPhoto is fun and very useful while on vacation. But the program is only on the iPad right? Any that is what i am finding out. I would love to be able to have it on my Mac. to play with journal making with the larger computer.

Yes, it is only on the IOS devices available. And it can only be edited on the IOS device where you created it. So you have to take good care not to misplace your iPad or iPod. where you started to create the journal, if you want to be able to edit and update it.
Hopefully this will change in the future. You may want to send a feature request to Apple:
