Yahoo Finance stock widget stopped working

I've been dealing with this problem the past couple weeks myself. Today I started removing stock quotes. Once I removed my international stocks it started working fine. Not sure why, but their feeds for international quotes must have changed and that change breaks the app.

Had the same issue myself .. apparently, something changed somewhere on the Yahoo end. In my case, removing my mutual fund resumed the feed, but I went ahead and switched to the Fidelity Market Monitor Widget anyway ...

Hey, this works for me!!! Looks like maybe Yahoo is abandoning the older widget for this one? Nice to have my Vanguard stocks back on the daily ticker. Thanks!

Worked for me!! I was having the same problem where the stocks would not load. I tried deleting the .plist, but that did not fix the issue. Here is what finally fixed the issue:

I removed the Index/Mutual fund SWPPX from the list.

So if you have a Mutual fund in your stock list, try removing it.

For those following the Dutch stock exchange: I ended up removing ^AEX and replaced it with AEX.AS. It seems as if they are the same index. Solved.

Three cheers for goilala, started at the top of the lastest dates and tried all those "fixes", none worked.

Finally removed BUFBX a mutual fund and BING we have a winner. I'm able to display S&P, DOW and NASDAQ. Thanks I look at this Widget several time a day. Much quicker than logging into Schwab or Yahoo Finance.

Same problem. Very strange! And I too like widgets a lot. Too bad they seem to be on the way out.

I experienced the same issues sometime after upgrading to 10.8 on my MBP. I tried deleting the plist and other things here. I ended up downloading this widget, installed it and ta-da. Works! This seems to be the best solution until Apple/Yahoo decide to fix the initial issue. But at this point, this looks and works like the old one that served it's job for me. I'm happy to have it back!

I know this thread started pretty long ago, but in case anybody still needs it, I found a solution. I was having the same problem and finally just deleted it and installed another stocks widget from Fidelity, but I didn't like it. So I decided to try to find the original Yahoo Finance widget to reinstall, but instead I found an updated version at Martin Backschat’s Blog here:

I installed that Version 0.3.8, added my stocks (including indices and mutual funds) and everything is working fine again.

Thank you SO MUCH. This completely replaced the old Yahoo Finance stock widget -- includes all my holdings (US equities, foreign equities, Vanguard & Fidelity funds, etc.). Works beautifully.
