Easiest way to get from OSX 10.5.8 to latest OS?

If I'm still running OSX 10.5.8, do I have to upgrade one OSX at a time to get to the latest version? I went to purchase Mountain Lion but it said system had to be 10.6.8 or later to upgrade. I'm a few felines behind the times.

Do I have to purchase Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, THEN Mountain Lion?

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Yup, you will need Snow Leopard before any further upgrades are possible. Check the link below for requirements and purchasing info.

Your iMac is among those that can run Mountain Lion 10.8, but a lot of those models shipped with only 2GB RAM. Many people feel Mtn Lion needs a minimum of 4GB RAM and the full 8GB yours will handle would be even better.

This is a RAM listing for your iMac model:

Installation is a 10-minute do-it-yoursef project. Apple RAM installation instructions are here:
