Q: macbook pro turns on but screen stays black

The Apple Macbook Pro would turn on, but the screen would not. The screen would stay black.

Do any of these KB Articles pertain to your model MBP?

Pro: Distorted video or no video issues
These computers were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008

How to identify MacBook Pro models

If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them. Let them deal w/it.
