How to make mp3 audio files

Not sure I'm in the right place to ask this question.

I just used Final Cut Express 'voice over' to make a 3 minute recording. I found what I saved in my files as "Voice Over (number)". It was an AIFF file, 43 MB.

I want to send a much smaller file.

How should I do this?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion

Hi,

the easiest way I can think is to open the AIFF file in iTunes right click on it and from the menu choose "Create MP3 version" !!

what will happen to the file, when it gets to wherever it's being sent?

is it just for listening? or will it be used in an ad or similar?

there's a spoken podcast setting in the aac section of cd import section of itunes (the cd import setting is in the preferences). that will make it much smaller. but the quality will also be lower than the aiff.
