I have one question, if someone has a problem with Logic Pro X.
I start the program after a few minutes my MacBook Pro 15" (mid2012) warm up that I could bake eggs on it.
So I can not do too much in it.😟
CPU at 30%
RAM 2.30%
MacBook specifications:
-2.3 processor
-256 GB SSD Vertex4 system disc
-12 GB Ram @ OWC
-second drive WD 750GB @ 7200rpm ScorpioBlack

Open activity monitor while this is happening (cmd+space to spotlight find it.
Ensure that the pull down box is set to 'all processes'
Then click the % CPU column to sort the cpu usage in order (highest first) and see what is actually using up your CPU, could be that you have something else running... For example, print queues can sometimes go nuts and cause CPU's to cook.
If it's Logic then you must have something loaded up that's taking resources, like a plugin or your audio buffer is set ridiculously low maybe? Not sure.
Its worth noting that upon installing Logic Pro X for the first time.. Spotlight has to do a lot of indexing work.. and this can, although not always.. cause a Mac to work harder than normal (mainly the HD for example) for a short while until such indexing has completed.

I changed the buffer size on 256ms/512ms and put processor to 8 threads
in audio settings, and reduce overheating, heated but not too much.
Now when I connect external sound card M-Audio ProFire 610,
my MacBook Pro again begins to heat up....😕
Can You tell me what are Your audio settigs...ℹ

My settings won't matter because I have a different set of internal and external hardware to yours... so you cannot really do a comparison...
However, you could try using smcFanControl... (A Free App to control the speed of the fans in your Mac)
and crank up your fans manually and see if that makes any difference..

Im not actually expecting this to solve your issue but it may reduce the level of heat being experienced.

I ,v same problem, after installing logic x And runing that,CPU go's crazy !!! very hot !
I'll try suggestions here, but honestly I'm not verey hopeful .
I let you kown if there is a solution for it , PLZ do the same.

Bruno - When you plug your Profire interface in are you making sure the Audio Buffer sizes are still not too small? They may differ between devices, so you need to set each when it's plugged in.
Also, make sure you have latest drivers installed for your interface.
When it is running hot, which task is showing the most CPU % usage in activity monitor?
Does not slove the problem, but definitely less heat.
And I thinkthat this is not the final solution to this problem,
but it will help for now unitil we find a solution.

audio buffer is set the same as for the core audio 256ms/512ms.
I changed audio buffer settings but still nothing.
Drivers are the latest that are on their site 2.4.2.

After updating my 828 lll Hyb and deactivating⚠ third party plugs' I feel much better now and CUP seems much cooler 😊. Of course we have to accept logic X needs more of cpu power ( apparently ) !😕
plus unchecking all unnecessary elements like score and control surface ( that I dont have) in logic advanced setting.....➕.speed of scrolling is another thing for better and cooler video and CPU performanc.
Get as much update as you can for your audio interface and and good luck to you.
Let us know any improvment you make regarding that issue .

I have nothing installed except OSX's (10.8.4.), Logic Pro X,
Native Instruments Traktor pro 2 and Traktor S4 drivers who do not use it while I'm
working in Logic.
Other settings are all turned off in the settings of Logic, and I do not see
any reason it should create overheating problems.

HI Mate, just another wildcard to try, on OSX, go to System Prefs -> Users and Groups and just check the login items tab to make sure nothing is starting that you're not aware of that could be causing you an issue.
