Cant delete large text message thread/Unable to send new texts
I'm having a problem deleting text message threads wether iMessage or SMS message .
I'm not new to iPhones so I pretty much know how to delete text messages. Its hard to explain the situation but i will try my best.
This is on random occurrences,
Ok, while in the message app, i swipe to delete or press edit then the red button, and the message does disappear from the list.... But the problem is.. after I do this, I try sending a new message wether iMessage or SMS message and the message will not send.. it gets stuck on sending... (again this only occurs when i previously delete a large message thread.) I am unable to receive TXT messages as well during this process.. Almost like if the message app freezes.
Another thing that ive found is when all these things are happening, I go back to a random SMS or iMessage from the list and only the last message from the conversation appears in the chat.. everything from that message thread is gone.. The only fix that ive found is to exit the message app, and reboot the iPhone to make the conversation come back.
Once I reboot the phone, via swipe to Turn Off or doing a hard reset, the previously deleted message threads that i had swiped to delete are back in the list.. They wont disappear...
The only way i found to completely get rid of a message thread without having these weird occurrences is to manually delete every single message one by one from that thread.. I have even tried opening the message thread and pressing edit then pressing clear all, but the same weird thing happens.
Ive managed to get rid of several messages from the list by deleting single messages from the message thread.. But when i got to my wife's message thread, well ive never deleted that thread before.. It dates back to when the iPhone 5 came out... This message thread contains, txt, photos and videos. Theres just no way i would finish deleting every single entry from that thread one by one.
I have an At&t iPhone 5 running ios 6.1.4
Ive searched Google but couldn't find any similar incidents... I've done network resets, took out the sim card, deleted apps, and nothing seems to work..
I wanted to ask for help before doing a complete restore of the phone.
