bluetooth is'nt working on iPad

The little bluetooth logo in the top right of my screen dissapears whenever I press the home button on my iPad to get out of settings.

In settings it says that my bluetooth is turned on but as soon as I go into another app, it turns off.

I have tried restarting it but this does not solve the problem.
