How to remove virus "buildathome" from my imac?

My little daughter has begun to use the computer. She entered in game pages for children and the computer got a virus called "buildathome". How can I remove it without buying an antivirus program?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

How do you know you have been infected by buildathome? Where are you seeing this, or what makes you think this is the cause? What browser is being affected? What are the symptoms?

ClamXav may or may not find it, depending on whether it's in the ClamX catalogue or not. Not 100% certain, but it appears to be a Windows trojan.

There is no currently known malware by that name that can impact OS X. Even the references to possible Windows malware seem to indicate it's something else.

Please take the time to describe exactly what you are seeing in what application, etc. rather than jumping to any conclusions about what is causing it. We can all be of much greater assistance to you if you do.

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say you are suffering from browser redirecting, in which case you will probably benefit from reading Eliminating browser redirects and advertising.
