Q: Cannot relocated the aperture library !!!

but I've faced by an error which i can't relocate the library on external hard device !

How are you trying to move the library to an externall drive? And what exactly is the error message? Do you get the error, when you want to open the library on that drive, or can you not move it there?

To move an Aperture library to an external drive,

• Connect the drive to your mac,
• Check the formatting with "File > Get Info" (The drive must be formatted "MacOS X Extended (Journaled)", otherwise Aperture cannot open the library on that drive.
• Set the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" flag.

• If the formatting is o.k., select your Aperture Library in the FInder and drag it from the folder where it is now to the external drive.
• Then double click the library in the new location to en Aperture on it.
• If you have referenced images, select teh images in Aperture and use the command "File> relocate original files" to copy the original files alo to your external drive.

What happens when you try that? If you are getting error messages, post please the exact eroor messages, and also, when the errors occur.

and also i have check my external hard drive which is exFat !!

That is the problem. Aperture will not create libraries on hard drives with MS DOS formatting, and it cannot open libraries there. If you want to store libraries on that volume reformat it (after saving all data it contains). However, you will no longer be able to access that drive from windows systems.

You could patition the drive, so that you have a Windows partition and a Mac partition.

If having two separate partitions on that drive is no option for you, then yes - buy a drive for your Aperture library - you can never have too much disk space for photo files.

I don't know what your MacOS X version is, but with Mt. Lion you could repartition the drive without erasing its current contens and add a second partition this way.

That should work, if your drive has a GUID Partition Scheme map.

To add a second partition to your drive, do the following.

• Make a current backup.
• Then open Disk Utility. Select your drive in the sidebar.
• Click the partition tab.
• Drag the resize corner to make the current partition smaller.
• Click "+" to add a new partition. Set the format of the new partition to "MacOS X Extended (Journaled) and name the partition. Then click "Apply"

The new partition should be shown as a different disk on your desktop and in the sidebar.
