Q: Notes won't sync between iPhone & MacBook Pro.

I'm running OS 10.8.4 and can't seem to get Notes on the Mac to sync with the notes of my iPhone. I've tried signing out of iCloud on both devices and this didn't work.  Here's the weird part... when I signed back in, the Notes on the Mac returned and the Notes on the iPhone returned, but neither device had the same notes.  To clarify, each device had different notes despite being signed into iCloud and having selected to sync Notes.  When I signed out of iCloud, each device was showing no notes at all.  When I signed back in, each device repopulated with it's own previous notes list, but neither synced to each other.  Everything else iCloud related seems to be working fine.  And, yes, I do only have one Apple ID and it is being used on both devices.  Flummoxed!

Ok.  You rock.  Update your level to 1000. Best answer and it works.  Thanks!

That worked for me too (Macbook Mid 2010, running OS X Yosemite)--I thought that I had tried everything already! Thanks for providing this simple yet effective solution.

I loaded IOS 9 last night and started using the iCloud for syncing notes, to get the extra facilities. I moved 59 notes from an associated gmail account to my iCloud account.

    I run a macbook on 10.10.5

I can see the notes on iphone6, ipadair but not the macbook?

on iCloud.com I can see the notes?

I cannot see them on the Notes, yet the iCloud is listed etc

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem... I use notes almost everyday and this is extremely aggravating. If Apple doesn't fix this problem I may have to resort to using another program instead of notes, if it is in fact something that everyone is having a problem with.

    I Agree Totally.

I Thought this update was tested?

ONly way round is not to use the cloud.

    Use say gmail.

IT works as it used to but cannot use the draw facility etc.

I Had option to transfer notes from gmail to Icloud.

THen it is no issue. Works as before.

NO faculture to transfer notes back.

You can open Icloud and see them?

Same problem here, after upgrading to iOS 9. Have moved my notes from IMAP email account to iCloud, iPad and iPhone sync the notes well, but they don't load on the Mac. I do see them in iCloud.com.

I created a test note on the Mac (in what is supposed to be my normal iCloud account) and this nit will not appear on any other device. What is stranger is that this test note is stored in some iCould account (could it be the one where I was prompted to create a new @icloud.com email/account when moving my notes from IMAP to iCloud?), and when turning Notes off and on on the Mac, it does come back, but not the notes I need.

Conclusion, there are 2 iCould storage places for notes linked to my single AppleID. I haven't found the fix yet, but this should help us find it.

I found the explanation, but it doesn't fix our problem yet.

    http://www.imore.com/how-view-your-ios-9-notes-your-os-x-yosemite-mac

Basically the Mac app (I'm still on 10.9.5, but also a problem on Yosemite) is not at the same level as the iOS 9 Notes app (with attachements and sketch). So it cannot read the notes stored in iCloud which are in a higher version format.

There seems to be a newer OSX version coming out at the end of Sept 2015, so hopefully we can get the Notes app and retrofit it in our Mountain Lion/Yosemite OSX versions, or upgrade, but I'm always cautious about jumping to a new OSX version too quickly. So, patience it is for now.

I have the same problem after upgrading to the iOS 9, my macbook just show the notes till 9/15/15, but I use the notes almost everyday and this extremely aggravating. if rub and gab Apple does not fix the problem I may have to resort to using other program instead of notes, even I will use other smartphone.

why none of them have a clear solution to this issue? becasue it is obviously a syncing BBUUGG here !!! but the Apple pretend not seeing the issue!!

Make sure that you're storing all your notes on the iCloud folder in your notes.

Also, and most importantly, make sure that under "Internet Accounts > iCloud" Notes is checked on both phone and Mac.

Had this problem. Nothing helped. Then the common sense prevailed.... go to icloud on iphone, check whether the "Notes" option there is turned on or not. Green means on else its not on.

    this helped me. :-)

Bit of a chaff, but this solution worked for me with my Mac to iPhone - thank you. Going to check the iPad now to see if that has done the business !
