Iphone, Itouch & Imessaging- Security issue

Heres my issue. My son had an Itouch. I then got him an Iphone, which in time caused me to repo the itouch. The itouch & the iphone get all his i messages (which is fine for me). Occasionally on the itouch I will turn off the imeessage for his number on the iphone, & when I turn it back on he gets a message on his iphone saying "dads itouch enabled", or something like that, & his phone can either accept it or not. However, I cannot find ANYWHERE, whether it be on his phone or his account saying that "Dads Itouch" is getting his imessages. Surely to god there should be somewhere he could look on his phone or his apple account that he could tell "dads itouch" is getting his imessages.

Is there anywhere?

Nothing is wrong, in fact, all is working as designed. The touch is still associated with his Apple ID for iMessage, & that's the way things are supposed to work. As far as the system knows, this is the same person with multiple devices. How would you expect the system to know that you're using the touch?

Well no.

Well, like it or not, you're wrong. I've already provided you with the answer. You may not like the answer, but it is what it is.

If you want to fix this, turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account, if setup, on the touch. Then, Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Then set the touch back up using your Apple ID.

The problem is from a practical standpoint is someone could have authorized the device when they had possession of your phone, & you would never, ever know.

Again, it just seems kinda dumb that NOWHERE on the phone or account is what devices are enabled for that imessage number (ie the phone number) avaliable on the phone.

Not arguing, just observing. Seems real counter intuitive to me.

I just would expect the developers to have been smart enough to have designed a phone/system so that a user could see what devices are enabled for that number.

I can't see what devices I have logged into my Gmail account, either. There's nothing wrong with what you're asking. It's just not always the way things are done.

Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

Well, they have, but most users fail to take advantage of such. You can't view this data directly on your device, but if you setup a support profile, with Apple, you can login to that support profile & view all devices associated with your Apple ID. Removing a device would fix your issue as well.

You don't need to submit any feedback, as such already exists.

The support profile does not tell you whether you're logged into iMessage or FaceTime. All it tells you is what devices are "associated" with your Apple ID. Prior to iOS 6.0, if you didn't first turn off iMessage or FaceTime before getting rid of a device, there was no way, short of calling AppleCare, to disassociate these devices from your Apple ID. When iOS 6.0 was released, this was "supposedly" fixed, you could change your Apple ID password, or remove the device/devices from your support profile, assuming you set such up...most users don't.

I'm not 100% convinced that the "change your Apple ID password" works, all the time, but removing the device from your support profile does, in all cases I've seen.
