Jul 27, 2013 11:04 AM in response to Lousy8helpby Lousy8help,I amso confused by the terrrible support given by Apple,I used to get upset with microsoft, but Apple support is absolutely designed to drive one mad before giving out any help? I just wanted to try outPages and there is no way I canfind out how to type up a letterin pages? I ended up getting my question truncated and then fell for writing my question again in the reply screen.I don't believe in torture but I wouldlike to have a few hours with Apple help.

Sep 4, 2013 1:55 AM in response to Lousy8helpby eLG Limpay,Hello Lousy8Help, I belive this is just a user error on your behalf.
So whats happening here is you are choosing blank document (under page layout which is also the first option in all), This means it is completely blank and you will need to add in a text box.
You need to choose "Blank Word Document" Under word Processing.
I hope this solves your issue.

Sep 4, 2013 9:59 AM in response to eLG Limpayby PeterBreis0807,That is not user error.
Apple does not describe the differences between Word Processing templates and Layout templates any where obvious so it is not surprising that many users fall into this trap.
So in summary, use a blank Word Processing template from the labelled Template Chooser sidebar, and this is better described as User Interface error by Apple.

Sep 4, 2013 10:06 AM in response to Lousy8helpby PeterBreis0807,You have many more choices for help with Apple than you do with Microsoft.
There is:
1. Help under the Help menu
2. Pages09_UserGuide.pdf downloadable from under the Help menu
3. The tutorial videos under the Help menu
4. The personal classes run by Apple in their Apple Store
5. The Genius Bar
6. The One On One classes
7. The phone support from Apple Care
8. These user forums which give you fast accurate responses
9. Many other other online forums and blogs
